Approach
HRS Summer Arts is a program like no other. Our approach is process oriented and not that of product. Our goal is to have children successfully experience the creative process in a fun, safe and nurturing environment. For the past 6 years children have been exploring their own creative process while under the guidance of various arts professionals. Through our program we see children begin to embrace the arts as a means of exploring their world, they grow and develop personally as well as creatively.
Cultural ARTS
Each summer we choose a different culture to explore through dance, theatre, music and the visual arts. Artists from the chosen culture will guest-in and perform, teach or do one day workshops. The visual arts are always structured around the chosen culture from mask making, printing, sculpting, painting, fiber arts, papermaking, puppetry, theatrical makeup and more.
Dramatic Arts, Dance, Yoga, Ti Chi, African Drums
Working professionals teach each discipline. They are each dedicated to inspiring the young to look at and engage their world through creative thought. They participate in the program because they believe in its purpose, and they, like the children benefit, grow and are inspired.
